Ahold Delhaize websites reopen with some issues

Ahold Delhaize’s U.S. banners, including Food Lion, Stop & Shop, Hannaford, The Giant Co., and Giant Food, experienced a cyber incident that led to the shutdown of online ordering for over a week. The websites and mobile app were taken offline as the company investigated the incident.
When the websites and mobile app came back online on Tuesday, several customers reported challenges in logging back into their mobile apps. A Food Lion customer on Facebook said, “I am not able to login with my old credentials, and every time I request a password reset the link that I received in my email takes me nowhere.”
That same customer said she was later able to access the app by requesting a password reset via email, then uninstalling the app and re-installing it, then clicking on the link to reset the password. Several Stop & Shop customers also reported similar problems accessing the app.
The company stated that it had not yet found any evidence suggesting that any sensitive customer, associate or partner data was taken.
After online ordering and delivery resumed on Tuesday, some customers reported receiving a note thanking them for their patience. At least one customer reported receiving a small treat, a chocolate chip granola bar, in their first order. A note from Stop & Shop said, “Your business and the confidence you place in our team to make grocery shopping easier and more convenient means a great deal to us.”
Some customers also reported receiving offers for a 10% discount when they resumed ordering online, and others reported receiving an offer for $10 off. Food Lion began promoting free pickup or delivery through Oct. 31 with the message, “We Are So Back.”
Several customers praised the chains for offering discounts during the outage and taking steps to safeguard customers’ information.
