Little Moons launch new sour mochi flavor

Little Moons and Candy Kittens have launched a co-branded mochi sorbet, Sour Watermelon, in response to fan requests on TikTok. The limited-edition product features a smooth, watermelon-flavored sorbet center with a “sharp, sour hit”, wrapped in Little Moons’ signature soft rice dough.
The collaboration was sparked by requests from fans on TikTok, which led Little Moons to approach Candy Kittens co-founder Jamie Laing. According to Little Moons, innovation has accounted for 75% of frozen snacking category growth over the past two years.
The new product is designed to disrupt the frozen aisle and drive trial through flavour-led innovation, said Little Moons, citing NIQ data. Vivien Wong, co-founder of Little Moons, said: “We knew our TikTok community would be delighted to see a sour watermelon-inspired sorbet, so we had no other choice.

Laing added: “It’s hard to ignore the noise online, but when your community keeps asking for something, it’s pretty difficult to say no. This is something that feels fresh, exciting and honestly delicious, and bringing something completely new to the market has been a lot of fun.”
Katie Banford, senior buyer for frozen at Ocado Retail, said: “This product allows customers to shop a combination of two of our top-selling brands on site for a new freezer favourite.” The product is priced at £5 for a 6x30g pack.
Innovation has been a key driver of growth in the frozen snacking category, with new products accounting for a significant share of sales. The launch of Sour Watermelon mochi sorbet is the latest example of this trend, with Little Moons and Candy Kittens teaming up to create a unique and exciting product.

Little Moons has been actively expanding its product range, having unveiled Mini Moons, a range of smaller mochi bites, in March. The company also added Lemon & Elderflower Refreshos to its portfolio in the same month.
Candy Kittens has teamed up with other suppliers for co-branded launches before. Last April, it teamed up with Katjes stablemate Genius to launch rocky road. In 2022, Candy Kittens teamed up with BrewDog to launch Raspberry & Guava New England IPA, inspired by its Gourmies sweets.
