Toshiba Unveils New Mobile Solutions for Retailers

Toshiba expands its mobile offerings with the new TCx® M7, joining the TCx® M11, as retailers adopt mobile-first strategies to meet rising consumer expectations. The latest addition equips associates to serve customers anywhere, streamlines operations with real-time data, and bridges digital and in-store experiences. This shift towards mobile technology is not just a trend but a critical driver of operational efficiency and customer satisfaction in today’s fast-evolving retail market.

Empowering Retail Associates with Mobile Technology

The TCx® M7, a next-generation mobile device, enables associates to engage with customers and manage operations more effectively. At Away, a travel and lifestyle brand, implementing Toshiba’s mobile devices transformed how associates interact with customers and manage tasks. Before the implementation, associates were largely tied to fixed points, such as cash registers, which could lead to longer wait times and less personalized service. However, with the TCx® M7 and TCx® M11, associates can now move freely around the store, engaging with customers wherever they are.

At Away, our customers are at the center of everything we do. Toshiba’s TCx® M7 and TCx® M11 empower our teams with the speed, mobility, and real-time personalization today’s customers expect, transforming any sales floor into a fully capable checkout and service destination. These solutions keep us agile in-store and event-ready with built-in scanning, tap-to-pay, and simple device management.

Before implementing these devices, our associates spent a considerable amount of time moving between different points in the store to perform tasks like scanning products or processing payments. This not only slowed down service but also limited their ability to provide personalized assistance to customers. With the TCx® M7 and TCx® M11, all these functionalities are integrated into a single, portable device, enabling our associates to serve customers more efficiently and build stronger relationships with them.

TCx® M7: Designed for Retail

The TCx® M7 offers features that simplify associate use and enhance their productivity. Its lightweight, ergonomic design ensures comfort during extended periods of use, while the large 6.5″ display provides clear visibility for navigation and interaction with customers. The field-swappable battery and quick charging capabilities allow associates to work across multiple shifts without downtime due to recharging.

The all-in-one functionality of the TCx® M7 streamlines various aspects of retail operations. The tap-to-pay (NFC) SoftPOS payments enabled feature allows associates to process contactless payments swiftly and securely. The RFID grip handle facilitates easy inventory management, while the forward-facing and rear cameras, along with the 2D scanner, ensure accurate data capture and task completion.

Built to withstand demanding retail environments, the TCx® M7 boasts drop-tested construction, a rugged IP68 design, and an Android platform with GMS certification. This ensures secure app access and compatibility with a wide range of retail applications. Moreover, the TCx® M7’s broad accessory ecosystem caters to both indoor and outdoor use, further enhancing its versatility.

“We are proud to support Away’s mobile-first vision. Together, we are enabling faster, more accurate service with built-in scanning and tap-to-pay features, all on a familiar handheld device that helps associates work smarter and deliver those quality customer experiences. The TCx® M7 and TCx® M11 bring benefits to retailers and customers by speeding up service and reducing common checkout pain points all on a single and secure device,” said Robert Parsons, VP Product Portfolio at Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions.

The launch of the TCx® M7 reaffirms Toshiba’s commitment to providing retailers with flexible, connected, and future-ready mobile solutions. From Jan. 11-13, Toshiba will showcase these innovations at NRF 2026: Retail’s Big Show in Booth #3623. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience the new TCx® M7 firsthand, alongside Toshiba’s entire ecosystem of software, hardware, and services.
